Stringing Operations in Proximity to High-Voltage Lines

OBJECTIVE
Acquisition of basic knowledge and technical expertise of stringing operations in proximity to energized power lines and components. The successful participation will be confirmed by a certificate

CONTENT

THEORY 

  • Basics (voltage levels, electric and magnetic fields, minimum and safety distances, different kinds of ground faults, step voltage, grounding resistance, etc.)
  • Specific characteristics of stringing operations of conductors and optical fiber cables such as e.g. OPGW, ADSS, OPPC, etc.
  • Installations methods (2 line system, 3 line system, alternatives)
  • Calculation of the required number of cradle blocks and synthetic ropes including practical examples
  • Calculation and selection of the appropriate ropes
  • Alternatives to the standard procedures
  • Case studies
  • Health and safety measures

PRACTICE

  • Safe handling and correct installation of the pulling robot.
  • Correct application of the cradle blocks, the recovering device and the line tensioner.
  • Correct battery exchange.
  • Operation of the pulling robot in our testing area.
