From the world’s longest railway tunnel to a fjord crossing with a 5,500 m span: selected projects in which machines from Scheßlitz pulled lines and raised towers.

Elbe crossing near Stade

227 mTower height

On a Siemens site on the Elbe near Stade, the world’s tallest overhead line towers of their time were built: 227 m high and 1,000 t each. They were erected with a ZECK SPW 5 puller, which TÜV first had to approve as lifting equipment.

The project became a textbook example of raising a very tall, heavy tower with a puller.

Gotthard Base Tunnel

57 kmTunnel length

In the Gotthard Base Tunnel, at 57 km the world’s longest railway tunnel, Kummler+Matter installed the catenary in 2013/14 with a ZECK BM 954 installation unit: 2 × 17 kN pulling force, six drum stands, 18.3 m long.

The result: catenary on 114 km in the two tunnel tubes and on 40 km of open line. The tunnel opened in 2016.

Fjord crossings in Norway

5,500 mSpan

Since 2008, ZECK has been involved in fjord crossings in Norway, among others for Statnett, Valard and Dalekovod. Spans reach up to 5,500 m.

What makes them special: the machines come apart. A helicopter flies them in pieces onto the surrounding mountains, where they are reassembled.
